Barack Obama versus Hillary Clinton: The Democratic Race.

(If you don’t want my opinion on the two democrats, are republican, or just don’t care about this whole primary race crap, please skip down to the “stop skipping” section. I do have other things to say. It will be in bold and a different color for easy identification.)

Personally, I am a democrat. I try to vote for people that are democrats unless they cannot do the job well compared to someone of another party. I know that some people just vote on the democratic ticket, but I don’t see how that helps anyone.

As a democrat, I have to deal with the constant Clinton vs. Obama debate and, living in Indiana, the primaries. Since this is the first time in about 40 years that our state matters in this, I just don’t see who will be winning since this is a red state. I actually don’t see too many people in this area caring about Obama because of his race, while there are not too many men in favor of Clinton because she is a woman. Most of the people in Indiana are conservative and republicans, especially in this area, so, they will all vote for McCain.

Here’s my problem: I don’t like Hillary. Sorry honey, but you just don’t cut it for me. She comes across as very crude and bitchy, which isn’t something I’m really looking for in a future president. Don’t get me wrong though, she has a great strategy: My husband was the last president. A do know people that want to vote for her simply to “put Bill [Clinton] back in the White House.” I just don’t see this happening, because he’s probably had enough of the White House for one lifetime.

I do, however, like Barack Obama. Why? He just seems like a nicer person. I don’t want to get into the details of exactly why I like one or the other, but it has a lot to do with what they say they are going to do and what they are doing, as well as their ongoing campaigns. I’m not here to try to get people to vote one over the other—that’s every individual’s choice, so I won’t bother explaining it.

(Stop skipping. You can keep reading now. Unless you don’t want to hear about how I hate politicians that lie. If that’s the case, there is a bit you can read without being annoyed, so scroll down to the “for everyone!” section. It will be in bold and a different color for easy identification.)

Now, I know a lot about each of them, which I can’t say most people in the United States bother to find out. Their personal lives are just that, their personal lives, so that I believe should stay out of the spotlight. (P.S. Bill Clinton getting some extra on the side didn’t bother me; tons of people do it and never admit to it either.) What I really think people should try to find out before running out and voting for who they like because of their political views, race, religion, or sex, is if they are bothering to tell the truth.

Sure, everyone lies. If you didn’t once in a while, you’d be lying. There are just some people that are more honest than others. Even if they aren’t necessarily honest, it’s important that they admit that they’ve done something wrong if caught. They should also have the guts to tell the world, “Hey, I fucked up. My bad,” and then try to do something about it. If everyone, not just political leaders the world over, bothered to do this, maybe the world would be a little bit better.

If your leaders lie, then their peers and the people that view them may just think that it’s okay as well. If you lie and your children learn that, then they are likely to teach that to their children in the future. It’s the same premises, though there do seem to be more truthful parents than honest politicians.

(This last part is for everyone! Whatever you are, if you bother to vote or contemplate it, or, hell, even discuss voting but decide not to because it’s pointless—this section is for you!)

But, forget both of them for a moment. Does anyone honestly think that an African-American or a woman would be able to get to the White House without being killed? I don’t see it happening. It’s not that I want it to happen either, but I’m being realistic. The truth of the matter is not whether or not we as a nation want Clinton or Obama, it’s the matter of who they are choosing for vice-presidential running-mates. If they pick wrong, then are assassinated in the future, we have to deal with that choice as well.

Like I said, I don’t want it to happen to either of them, because we have lost good people before because of race, sex, and even relation. I just think that everyone needs to come to the conclusion that it can and may happen, so we need to think about it. In the past, we have forgotten that a simple bullet can end a legacy and bring forth new leaders, in this country and others.
