I know it doesn’t look like it, but the river is not supposed to be that high. (The steps actually continue down around twice to three times as far and then there is the beach.) It’s a picture of J. and a friend when we were out at Cave In Rock the other day. It’s quite flooded in this area, and it is currently raining and we’ve gotten an extra couple of inches just from the down pours today. I wonder how high the river is now?
In this picture, you can see how far out the river goes, which is pretty far. It is usually a normal sized river for this area, but now it stretches for over a mile in some areas. This area is very pretty when it is dry or wet, though there is no way of entering the cave itself unless you can walk around the rock ledge on the beach to get to it. When the water is high, all you can do is look down into the hole at the top of the cave, which is covered for your safety.

I don’t live close enough to that river, which I cannot remember by name. Though, I do live a couple of miles away from one, it has to brake through a dike and a levee, then manage to roll through a mile of fields before it even gets to my backyard.
Strangly enough, a couple of years ago people in the media started saying that it *could* reach our neighborhood and started convincing others to go out and sandbag the levee. Ha!

this is a great photo. There were times when the river near our house were high up that the water reaches to our floor.

We’ve had a lot of rain here this year but thankfully no flooding so far (except for low lying areas which is normal for Louisiana). Nature can be a powerful beast sometimes, even in her beauty!

Very powerful photos. We have many rivers in the area at flood stage and over because of the thawing snows right now.
I do love the composition of these photos very much, they were a pleasant treat for WW.
